About Us

Who are we?

The Playhouse is a family-run childcare and preschool dedicated to providing top-notch care for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. The Playhouse Childcare, with nearly three decades of history in the Sugarhouse area, has been owned and operated by Cristina Littig since December 23, 2015, with the primary objective of providing a fun and nourishing environment for local families to entrust their children.

Our Mission

Our mission is to establish a secure, engaging, and nurturing environment that inspires children to explore, discover, and cultivate a lifelong enthusiasm for learning. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, all staff members are required to complete early childhood training. We aim to create a welcoming and homey atmosphere at our center, making your children feel valued and supported.

Dual Immersion Program

We are excited to let you know about our dual immersion learning environment. Through interactive learning the kids hear us speak both languages throughout the day helping them develop and absorb Spanish words. As they are learning English, they will also be learning Spanish. We incorporate Spanish into our daily lessons, activities, and interactions. Whether it is through songs, stories, games, or just simple conversations the exposure to Spanish is very beneficial. Studies show that children who are exposed to a different language at an early stage have enhanced cognitive dexterity, problem-solving skills, a better understanding of different cultures and diversity, and improved communication skills.

Infant Care (6 weeks-1.5 years old)

Our Infant Care program is designed to provide the utmost care and attention for your child. We understand that every baby is unique, which is why our daily schedule is tailored to meet your child's individual feeding and sleep needs. Our experienced caregivers create a warm, safe, and nurturing environment where your little one can grow, explore, and feel secure.

Toddler Care (1.5 - 3 years old)

In our toddler room, we follow a structures daily schedule that fosters a sense of security and routine. Each day begins with engaging learning time, where we explore the ABC'S, colors, animals, and much more. As we lay the foundation for their future learning, we also prepare them for our preschool program. We start to show them how to clean up to start to gain independence Our goals are to create a safe, nurturing environment where your child can thrive.

Preschool Program ( 3 - 5 years old)

Our preschool program following the Starfall Second Edition curriculum, with the beloved Gingerbread Boy guiding our little learners on their educational journey. We are committed to creating an environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Our structured daily routine helps foster a sense of stability. We emphasize important life skills, including cleaning up after themselves and developing independence, ensuring every child is set up for success both inside and outside of the classroom.
